Eliminate Bacteria With Water Well Shocking

Avoid unsafe bacteria, including coliform and e-coli, in your well with a comprehensive shock treatment from Keyser Well Drilling & Pump Company. Shock chlorination (disinfection) is recommended when lab results indicate a presence of bacteria. We'll work to eliminate bacteria in your well through a "well shocking" process.  This process involves the introduction of a high concentration of chlorine into your well, re-circulating the water from your home to your well to rinse the casing and other potential growth spots for bacteria, and then running the chlorinated water through your hot and cold water faucets in your home, including dishwashers, washing machines, toilets, faucets, etc.  The chlorinated water sits in your system for a minimum of 24 hours before the purging process begins.  Once the residual chlorine has been purged from your system, you are ready for the collection of a new bacteria sample.

The ultimate goal is to see a complete elimination of bacteria from your well.  Reduction in Total Coliform Colonies is good, but a zero count is the objective.  If a zero count is not achieved, additional shocking may be necessary, or, you may elect to install a Ultra-Violet Light or Chlorine Injection System in your home to ensure a safe and potable drinking water source.

If you feel you may need a "well shock" service, please feel free to contact us today for an over-the-phone free estimate for a shock treatment.

Do you have bacteria in your water?

If you have a private well, you should have your well water tested every year to ensure that your drinking water is potable and free of bacteria, including coliform and E-Coli.  Water testing is easy and affordable.  If you are interested in having your water system tested for bacteria, call us at (518) 828-1203.  We can set up testing for bacteria to be done by us and submitted to a Lab, or, we can instruct you to do the bacteria sample collection yourself.

Bacteria sampling is easy for a homeowner to do themselves, but if ever you need us, we are here to help!
